“What you are supposed to do when you don’t like a thing is change it. If you cannot change it, change the way you think about it. Don’t complain.”
What is your best C-suite trio in life?
Are you searching for the right Triplett?
What can you do to run and not ruin your life?
“The C-Suite?” I said, “No, never heard of it!”
“I am sure it is a luxurious suite in a prestigious hotel!” I was screaming internally in my head.
“How can I enter such a suite?” I replied.
“Hold on, Pal. This is not a regular suite in a luxurious hotel.” he added.
Well, it appears that the C stands for a suite of words like: Club, Closed, Cercle, and Chief.
“The highest-level executives in senior management usually have titles beginning with “chief” and ending with “officer”, forming what is often called the “C-suite” or “CxO”, where “x” is a variable that could be any functional area (not to be confused with CXO). The traditional three such officers are CEO, COO, and CFO.”
Many of us will not get to that suite ever in our life. No matter how smart, talented, and hard-working we are, we are just never going to make it to that club.
Why is the C-Suite so selective?
It comes down to another C-suite:
CHOICE — For most of us, we have limited or no choice in many moments of our lives. It is not about hard work.
Sometimes it is just the system, and the environment we are evolving is not in our favor.
This can translate into unconscious bias, systemic racism, not having the right bloodlines, not being in the right circle.
What can we do about it?
We can always strive to make sure to create a third option for us and others. Often in life, most of us are not even given one choice.
If we are given 2 choices, it is to the benefit of the person providing the options most of the time.
Whenever we are faced with two choices, we need to open our third eye.
If we are in a position of power, we have to make sure that we are not always giving choices to the same people.
We need to wander on uncharted territories and find outcast people in our communities and give them more opportunities.
CHANCE — Most of us are where we are because of hard work, 100%. Well, this is the story that we want to tell ourselves.
The truth is that most of the successful people in life owe their success about 90% to being lucky.
We just like to believe that it is our hard work that brought us where we are. That is just part of the truth.
Yes, hard work can work. But it is not sufficient to guarantee that we will be successful in life.
We might be born in a prosperous part of the world. However, we did not choose to be born there.
We might have wealthy or educated parents that know and can afford us an excellent education.
We might stumble upon a person who happens to resonate with us and decide to give us a little lift.
Acknowledging the part of luck in our success in life is a way to be grounded and give others some slack.
Can we increase our chances in life?
We can be more prepared when starting a new job hunting.
We can be part of a network or a community even if we do not need any job or support.
We can pay it forward, be visible within our company.
We can also create opportunities for others, so why not even strangers, people different from us?
We can all be the luck of someone else and be the giving hand of the universe.
CHANGE — We all want to become more. Yet, most of us are reluctant to change. It might sound a little bit stretched.
Yet if we think about it, not a lot of us learn from our mistakes.
We love the stability of our comfort zone.
We will go to an extra length to avoid pain just for the sake of conforming to other people’s expectations.
Yet, change is the only constant in life.
Why is embracing change a must in life?
Often life will bring us challenges in the hope that it will make us evolve. That is the way of life.
Often we are more focused on transformation. Yet, life is all about evolution.
Evolution is what brought us here, in this exact big rock, floating relentlessly around our star, the sun, in our galaxy, the Milky Way.
Every day the universe is evolving. Whether we like it or not, the universe is expanding.
The sun will replace the moon. Then the moon will do the same. It will rain.
“We are all somebody else’s asshole!” as the saying goes.
We must allow ourselves to change. We must be deliberate about embracing change.
That is the way!
Make Choice your CEO — Chief Emotional Officer!
Make Chance your COO — Chief Opportunity Officer!
Make Change your CFO — Chief Failing Officer!
In the end, F.A.I.L is just another way to Find An Intended Lesson.
Only by accepting this needed lesson from failure can we build more choices in our life.
The more choices we have, the more we are increasing the probability of stumbling into the right person who will give us our next opportunity.
If we focus on the wrong C-Suite, we might ruin our lives in an endless race until we die.
By focusing on the right C-Suite (Choice, Chance, and Change), we will navigate life with more options, embrace change, and be more conscious about our blessings.
