This is the hidden nectar of the Greek gods that kept them always young: take a sip of it every day, and you will be forever young.
At work, I changed jobs and joined a new team. And each time, the story is the same.
“I thought you just graduated from school.”
“You look so young.”
Well, indeed, I have a Tardis and have just jumped between jobs since I was 25 years old.
Do you want to know my secret?
Here is a partial answer: Blacks don’t crack!
…and also the Tardis!
I am 40 years old. I have 2 kids of 2 years and 4 months as I am writing these lines.
My mind might try to dupe me into thinking that I am 25. My body reminds me that I am 40.
How come some people look and feel younger than their age?
“Let us die young or let us live forever…”
From the pharaohs of ancient Egypt to the last person who will be born on this planet, we all have had a version of wanting to be young forever.
The sentence above is a quote from a song from Jay-Z, Forever Young.
Let’s enjoy the featuring version with Queen B, aka Beyoncé, which is my go-to song when I leave work every single day:
Yes, even Beyoncé or Jay-Z will not be forever young despite their wealth and their success.
Yet, they get the essential part of the equation, and they apply it.
There are 3 ways to try to be young forever:
- Ugly solution
- Bad Solution
- Good solution
2. BAD SOLUTION — PHYSICAL EXERCISE — This is not a “bad” solution. This is just an average solution.
At age 80 or above, the luckiest among us cannot do a lot of exercises, as in our early years.
And we must do physical activities and not sing all day long on a desk, behind a Zoom marathon from 9 to 5.
3. GOOD SOLUTION — MENTAL EXERCISE — This is the best solution. Yet, it has been forgotten in this modern era.
With Wikipedia, Google search at the tips of our fingers, nobody wants to challenge their mind.
Only crazy people will do it. Yet those crazy people are those who will be forever young.
We spend billions of dollars on AI — Artificial Intelligence, and we forget our humanity on the way:
If we want to be young forever, we have to practice mental exercise every day.
We have to get out of our comfort zone. We need to learn new things every single day of our life.
The only organ of our body that can make us young forever is our mind. Nothing else has much grip on the fountain of youth.
Most people die at age 20 because they stopped learning. They spend the rest of their life like the zombies in The Walking Dead.
Why? Because they stopped learning after “graduating” from school.
There is only one school in life. And that school is life.
We must not be duped by believing that we can buy everything in life without any effort.
We must always feed our minds with new things. We must surround it with resilience and let it breathe agility.
We must never suffocate it by Netflix marathons or Google searches, Tik Tok memes, or the illusion that everything in life can be bought by money.
Everything in life has a price tag. Sometimes money cannot buy it.
Curiosity, consistency, challenges, open-mindedness, and a growth mindset are the currency for those particular items.
Getting old is relinquishing the willingness to learn, no matter how young we are.
If we want to be forever young, we need to make mental exercise a breathing activity if we’re going to live forever.
Learn as if your life depends on it because learning is the oxygen of the mind.
Now you can breathe. Forever!
And, of course, Blacks don’t crack!
What is your secret for being young forever?
Are you using the one and only right ingredient?
Do you wanna live forever?
